但国民级应用的改动影响面之广并不一定允许上述要求立马实现，比如很多人反对双向删除好友，因为：“万一我遇到骗子，然后我还转账给了骗子，结果骗子删了我…证据都没了”（知乎答主：鲸鱼散人）
不过十多年来，微信的确经历了很多变化。
早期微信的定位还只是熟人间的通讯工具。
不少早期用户还记得微信之前的社交app主要是QQ，朋友、同学、亲戚可能都在上面。知乎用户哆啦大叔称：“注册界面最显眼的还是QQ登陆，那时几乎没有人知道微信是个什么鬼……只知道搜索朋友的QQ号就可以加对方为好友”。
后来微信慢慢有了从通讯工具到社交平台的野心。
私聊+群聊、公众号、朋友圈，至此形成了一个信息传播的闭环，至今我们依然每天活在这个闭环中。

也就是同期，英文版本改名为WeChat，正式走上国际化的道路。
